Zoos have progressed tremendously in recent years, but you'll find many professionals in our field with a bit of nostalgia for eras gone by. Part of it is that there were greater varieties of animals around to work with, part of it was that it seemed easier to actually build things and start new projects. I've occasionally thought it would have been amazing to be able to go back to when my zoo was young, over a century ago, with what I know now. How many mistakes we could have avoided, how much further our progress today would be... all of that, assuming, that I was actually hired.
