Far more familiar to most members of the public than the wolverine is the X-Men character who is named for it. It's not alone. The late, great Stan Lee and his colleagues apparently took a lot of inspiration from the animal kingdom in coming up with their characters, and there is pratically a zoo's worth of heroes and villains to be found in the pages of Marvel comics.
