Pride of the Denver Zoo

June is Pride Month, the annual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, and many zoos and aquariums have come out to show their support.  Among those is the Denver Zoo, which shared the stories of some of their same-sex animal couples.  First, they went with flamingos (who aren't just a gay couple, they're a gay interspecies couple - one Chilean flamingo, one American flamingo), then, with their coconut lorikeets.

Of course, not everyone is completely onboard with the concept of Pride Month, and it can be difficult to dismiss homosexuality as unnatural when you are presented with examples of it occurring in other species.  Denver Zoo went to bat for their bird lovers though, and the response has been pretty popular on social media:

I love Denver Zoo politely saying, "No, Lorie, not brother and sister - they have sex."

Happy Pride Month!
